The 2nd European Health Literacy Conference takes place in Aarhus, Denmark on invitation by Department of Public Health, Aarhus University. The conference is following the first European Health Literacy Conference in Brussels in November 2011 organised by the European Health Literacy Consortium (HLS-EU).

The aim of Health Literacy Europe is to promote health literate systems and populations through networking. The HLS-EU Consortium founded the network as an outcome of the European Health Literacy Project. The focal point of the network is based at Maastricht University, the Netherlands.

The HLS-EU Consortium
The European Health Literacy Consortium coordinated the European Health Literacy Project (HLS-EU) 2009-2012. The partners continue to collaborate and disseminate results of the European Health Literacy Survey, which was conducted in eight countries: Austria, Bulgaria, Germany, Greece, Ireland, the Netherlands, Poland and Spain.
